Ballot Measure 14-78

What will this cost me?

The Short Answer: Take your Assessed Value (AV) from your tax records and multiply by $2.02 and then divide it by 1000. The result will be very close to what you will pay if the Bond and Levy pass.

What You Should Know: Bond and local option levies are in addition to the regular permanent rate levy of $0.32 per space $1,000.

Things to Consider…

  • If you own commercial or residential property, the Hood River Valley Parks & Recreation District property tax assessment will increase by over 500%.

  • If you lease commercial or residential property, you will pay higher rent.

  • County AG producers will be assessed on the value on their fixed assets. Barns, worker housing, etc.

  • When taxes go up, prices of goods, services, gas, groceries and rent, increase as well.

Calculate Your Cost

Let’s estimate what you’ll pay and do some MATH, get out your calculator:

What you paid this year equals: Assessed Value (AV × $0.32) / 1000** = 2023 Hood River Valley Parks & Recreation District (HRVPRD).

What you will pay next year if the Bond and Levy pass equals: Assessed Value (AV) x ( $0.32 + $1.27 + $0.43) / 1000** = 2024 HRVPRD or Assessed Value (AV) x $2.02 / 1000 = 2024 HRVPRD.

** 1.) There is a slight difference in taxing zones. The difference is roughly 3 cents. Some areas pay $0.3115 while other areas pay $0.3456 per $1000 Assessed Value (AV).

**2.) “539%” has been rounded to two decimal places. The end result is very minor and the difference to the total is typically under $1.00.
